Málaga

Granada

Córdoba

Nerja

Maro

A district of Nerja, some 3km away and 2km from El Capistrano. A typical Andalusian village with whitewashed houses and some 500-habitants, characterized by its tranquility, and famous diverse landscapes and unblemished coves.

Nerja Caves: Situated close to Maro, these were declared a national monument and are, without a doubt, the most spectacular monument in Nerja. The caves are rich in prehistoric paintings and treasure dating back 20,000 years, dwelling and final resting place prehistoric man. Due to the incomparable beauty and acoustics, each year during the month of July, cultural spectaculars are held in their interior – The International Music and Dance Festival, with the participations of important artists such as Rostropovich, The Russian Ballet, Paco de Lucía, amongst many others.

Frigiliana

A pretty mountain village in Andalusian style, winning first prize for Embellishment of Spanish Villages and later the first National Prize of Andalusian Villages, situated 6km from Nerja and 7km from Capistrano. The village, with its whitewashed houses on cobbled streets, and flower-decked balconies, the village conserves the best Arab architecture of Andalusia. Renowned for its olive oil and local wine, and for possessing the only factory in Europe that produces molasses (miel de Caña).
